Interactivity for a Website has become a big part in web development and the movement of Web 2.0. Web users like to have interactivity when visiting a site. Interactivity is not only fun, but it also keeps them on your website. There are a couple of different technologies that can help accomplish this goal.

JavaScript

JavaScript is a web developing technology that uses to be the only way to have extra interactivity features. JavaScript can do many different things for your site. The most common way is mouseovers and drop downs. With JavaScript you can code your navigation to have different mouseovers or drop downs for extra content. JavaScript can be used for form validation, text effects, windows, menus and navigation.

Ajax

The above are some of the basic things JavaScript can do. When you add some more elements like Ajax, you open a new world of interactivity. Ajax is another form of JavaScript that you can increase your interactivity. Ajax's best feature is that it can connect to your database server and run scripts without the need of another page or a refresh of the page. It can pull insert or pull data dynamically to and from your database.

Adobe Flash

But the number one technology used for interactivity in the Web 2.0 movement is Adobe Flash. Flash has become the standard to make interaction. Websites will use flash for their navigation, animated header and/or banner ads. These are some of the most common used elements for the web. But web developers have caught on to this technology and have made full websites that animation on every click. This could be a bad thing or a good thing. Some developers have used Flash excessively and have made the users usability worse. When developing use Flash sparingly and only to increase usability.

Interactivity for your Website

These creations are not only fun to play with, but your user will also pay attention and play with them. Sub-consciously when spinning through a flash carousel, looking at a dropdown or using some type of rotation. The user is reading and viewing the different pictures and information. When the user has something to interact with, you have a better chase of landing a conversion.
