In addition to these high tech functions a good web design also needs to serve a specific function. The purpose of a website serves as a jumping off point for its design. Before deciding on colors and layout you must figure out what exactly your website will do. If the function of your site is to sell products that will affect its design. It will need to be able to process sales, protect customer billing information, communicate with corporate databases for shipping and customer profiles. It will need to be able to process payments from a variety of sources and possibly take coupons or discounts. If the function of the site it to share information it will need to store client profiles, edit comments for content, allow or disallow the uploading of media, and allow members to communicate with one another. It is important to find a good web designer to make your site work on both a functional and a technical level.
